Experience the Black Hills of South Dakota during an optimal time of year. The George S. Mickelson Trail (GMT) is over 100 miles of dedicated rail trails on crushed stone over old railroad bridges, through rock tunnels into the heart of the Black Hills in picturesque western South Dakota. You will be accommodated in Custer, SD for the week and the tour will ride route variants over five days! You will be awestruck by the wide-ranging local natural beauty and abundant wildlife in native surroundings in one of the least populated parts of the USA. Back by widespread demand, this will be our second year of this ride.

This five-day, six-night all-inclusive fully supported bicycle vacation will uniquely be set up where we will stay at the renowned

Rock Crest Lodge & Cabins for the duration.  Each day there will be long, medium, and short ride variants optioned. As always, BPP will have arrangements in place to shuttle you and your bicycle every day, ride a distance that suits you, you are here to be pampered. 

Remember, when deciding which bike to bring or rent, this entire tour will be on crushed stone with varying terrain and elevation.

Note: Please be advised that all BPP bicycle vacations include daily options for reduced mileage. Prior to each days ride, typically the evening before, you will be notified about choices for the day (two shortened variants) and necessary arrangements will be made to accommodate your preferences.

Pricing is based on receipt of registration and deposit. Mail-in registration/payment must be postmarked by the early bird expiration date. Online payment must be received on or before the early bird expiration date.

Note: Double/Triple/Quad rate is only available to those sharing a single room with two beds.

What about meals on the tour?

Each day both breakfast and dinner will be prepared and served by a dedicated Bubba’s Pampered Pedalers professional catering team. Anne with Culinary Insiders, the historical Bubba’s Pampered Pedalers Coast to Coast chef, will be back making great meals for us!

I will be driving, what can I do with my vehicle while on tour?

Free secure long-term parking is available at the host hotel.

 

What type of bike should I bring?

Most of the tour riding will be on crushed stone with varying terrain and elevation. This time of year the trail can also be muddy.  For comfort it’s recommended that tires should be puncture resistant and a minimum of 32mm in width. If you are adventurous, you may ride the routes on skinnier road tires. 

Can I bring my E-Bike?

Yes, E-Bikes are welcomed on all Bubba’s PAMPERED Pedalers tours.  Year by year a higher percentage of our riders ride them.

 What if I have mechanical problems along the way?

No worries. The tour will have a mechanic along to assist if needed. That said, all riders are required to have tools, knowledge and willingness to repair a flat tire.
